What's your Success Orientation?

Most of us know at least two types of successful people/companies:

  • those who wear their desire for success on their sleeves; spending every resource to actively pursue external measures of success (often at high personal cost), and
  • those who quietly generate ever greater levels of success relying on their inherent internal power to build a life or business that exemplifies what can only be described as a midas touch.

At a distance, you may not see a difference between the two, but behind the scenes they're worlds apart.

If you've relied on external success in your personal or professional life you may have encountered a time when your best efforts just weren't enough to close the deal, get the girl or guy, keep the marriage afloat or win back your best client or employee from your biggest competitor.  External success is at best conditional, always relative to factors in your environment, only some of which are within your control. In fact, the external power that drives your success is often the very thing that renders you powerless in the face of some insurmountable goal, dream or vision you can't quite bring to fruition.
